Barwon Heads Streetscape

Barwon Heads is a small town on the Bellarine Peninsula. Following on from an Urban Design Frame (UDF), concepts were drawn up in consultation with the community. The main road status was changed to bypass the retail hub and make it safer for pedestrians.

The project included powerline undergrounding, new gas reticulation, lowering of other services, road and main drain rebuild, new extended footpaths, new trees, furniture and green areas. The development created improved pedestrian links and opportunities for alfresco dinning, and event spaces, revitalising the main retail hub.

Stormwater is collected from the rooftops of traders buildings and stored for nearby toilet flushing and irrigation of the street.
